THIS IS TO CERTIFY that I, the undersigned
Surveyor to the Nippon Kaiji Kyokai , Osaka , did at the request of Messrs. Navatech Co., Ltd., Kobe, Japan, attend at Minato Seiki Iron Works Co., Ltd., Takatsuki, Japan, on 8 February 1993 in order to wittness the breaking test on


LOCKING AND SEALING DEVICE FOR FREIGHT CONTAINER DOORS

TYPE "NAVALOCK MK V"


Three sets of NAVALOCK MK V locking and sealing devices were selected at random, Verified against the manufacturers drawing No.846-3391 and tested in accordance with their proposed method and found as follows:-

    DESTRUCTIVE TESTS CARRIED OUT

    1. Tensile test to the point of breaking the lock
    2. Shearing test of locking pin
    3. Extrusion test of locking pin from It's locking socket

      The results of the above tests were found as follows:-


The following results were obtained in the presence of the undersigned:-

      Tensile test : All samples failed at the locking guide bracket
      Shearing test : All pins sheared
      Extrusion test : All locking rings failed
